Shri Nanhaji ka Lakshmi Narayan Temple

Quiet and peaceful place of worship where your mind relaxes the moment you enter the temple. I have been visiting this place since my childhood.

This is a more than 170 year old Temple dedicated to the presiding Deity Lord Vishnu and his consort Laksmi Devi. The Temple was constructed by Shri Baldev Sahay Ji, who was a proficient Vaidya in the mid 19th century when India was a British colony. Once a senior army officer of the Brits fell ill and he was treated by Shri Baldev Sahay Ji. Cured by his treatment and grateful to Shri Baldev Sahay Ji for saving his life, the senior officer gifted the Vaidya with a parcel of land to be used as per his discretion. Shri Baldev Sahay Ji thereafter built a Temple on the land dedicated to Shri Lakshmi Narayan as the presiding deity. The original Temple had idols of other Deities (Lord Hanuman Ji, Durga Maa and a Shiva Ling) within the premises. Over the years the administration of the Temple was taken over by his son Pt. Nanhe Ram Ji and later on the mantle was passed on to his sons Shri Shyam Sundar Ji (elder) and Pt. Bhawat Dutt Shastri Ji (younger) who was revered and held in high esteem by devotees who visited the temple. After the untimely death of Pt. Bhawat Dutt Shastri Ji in a tragic accident, the administration of the Temple was handed over to a trust managed by the descendants of Shri Shyam Sundar Ji. The Temple has undergone extensive renovation in the late 1990's and additional idols of Saraswati Maa, Durga Maa, Radha Krishan Ji, New idol of Hanuman Ji and a New Shiva Ling has been installed and consecrated in the Temple. The Peepal tree at the entrance of the temple has been there ever since the Temple came into existence and is over 170 yrs old.
