Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple

After praying at Nambi Narayana temple we went to Yoga Narasimha temple which is on a hillock and can be reached by climbing about 20 steps. The main deity is Narasimha in yoga posture whose prathistai was done by Prahlada . Yoga Narasimha is beautifully seated and has a dandam in His right Hand.. This dandam was placed on the head of the daughter of Bitti Deva after she bathed at the lake and was relieved of her mental illness.Thayar is called Yadava Nayaki. But what catches our attention is the divya mangala vigraham of Ramaujacharya who looks like a snake here.Actually he is Seshaavathara and he took the form of Sesha with thousand heads to answer the 1000 jains who came for a verbal challenge when their king converted to Srivaishnavism. The image is awe-inspiring and when we went someone offered kaashaayam or saffron robes to Ramanuja and so caught up were we that we forgot we had to travel to Melkote. We later came to know that people pray to Yoga Narasimha and once their wishes are fulfilled offer 10x2 white veshti to Narasimha deva and saffron veshti to Ramanujacharya. Another thing worth seeing are the belongings of Ramanujacharya kept in a cane basket.Even now we think about this sarpa roopa of Ramanujacharya and feel blessed. The temple is open from 9.30 A.M . -5.00 P.M. and one can take an auto from Pandavapura railway station to the temple. There are also buses from Pandavapura every hour and the journey takes about half an hour.

We find the buththi used by the Great Saint Ramanujacharya only here in karnataka .the temple is next to the big rocks and it adds more b eauty to temple.

Went all the way from Bangalore to visit the temple to see the shut doors of the temple. Waited for several hours in vain. Very disappointed that we couldn't have Darshan of the Perumal. Someone suggested I should go get the priest from his home. Even tried that, there was no response.

It is very old and good temple....
