This is one of the oldest arts college in India. It is more than 100 years old. The college started functioning from 1910. It is affiliated to Calicut University. Four years Bachelor of Fine Arts ( BFA ) degree course is offered here in three areas - Painting, Sculpture and Applied Arts.  A new course in Art History and Visual Studies was started from 2019.

Thrissur Government Fine arts college is one of the three Finearts colleges in kerala. We were spend half of a day there , for my brother's admission process. We can see many artistic works here. Sculptures, modern Arts. Etc...nSculptures on Clay, Metals, Woods, Stones, plastics.nCalm and Cool ambiance. Staffs and management are very supportive and helpful.
