Fantastic, one of those places you're trully looking for when you travel around sicily, authentic, delicious and not a touristic trap. It's good value, and it's good atmosphere. Grazie, for the experience, we'd definitely come back if we travel through that tiny little part of sicily again.

Good food, friendly staff

One because you can't. We sit down on a Saturday night going crazy to understand the narrow streets of this town, we park in Sicily style, we are welcomed in a chaos by the owner who is immediately very welcoming. Then we move on to the menu, very rich and varied, a wide choice of both appetizers and first and second courses, both seafood and fish. At 21.10 we proceed with the appetizers and then we order a first course and a pizza ... the appetizers arrive not all together but delayed, then we ask if they can get them out together. From the kitchen screams and discussions with the owner obviously in crisis to manage the waiters children, some do not understand Italian, some take orders and pretend nothing has happened (for example the final coffee), perhaps one, the older one is saved. Nobody wears the mask correctly and the kids who put it on their chins scratch their eyes and nose with their hands and never wash them. One of them was also eating leftovers while he was clearing tables. 11.15 pm after numerous requests to let the first one out and the pizza arrives (actually given the time we had said that even just one pizza was enough and we shared it but for twenty minutes the dish "was coming out" ...) Large portions, the pizza also good, the first too. The appetizers were already prepared and only made to warm up ... we also saw how they are prepared, taken from food tins. Finally we ask for a coffee exhausted by the hour and by the chaos the boy tells us ok but after 10 minutes he is not brought to us. While another guy goes by and takes away the bottles, where there were still 3 fingers of water, while he could take away the dishes because we told him we were full. We get up and they still make us wait 10 minutes in the hall with everyone touching you to go with the dishes .... never again.

When I want to eat rustic and traditional dishes, I have no doubts and I always come back to this little place in the ancient heart of Castrofilippo. The pizza is good but the highlight is Mrs. Lucrezia's cooking ... Francesco is attentive and knows how to advise you. The ancient flavors appetizer is really worth trying with eggplant rolls, bacon, caponata ... local cheeses. The meat is very good, especially the stigliole and the mutton. However, I would recommend cooking pork and sheep meat a little more. The choice of first courses is not very wide but always guarantees freshness and quality. The portions are generous and the prices fair. Stra recommended!
