After 10 days in Sicily, worst dinning experience. The Busiati al pesto tapanese are supposed to present as fresh bucatini with the typical creamy pesto, consisting of almonds, tomatoes and fresh basil. What we got was a concoction of overcooked pasta, hastily scrambled tomatoes and almonds, bathing in a layer of oil which filled up half the plate. The taste conveyed the dish was baked in oil at high temperatures, it had a metal-like taste as if the oil got burnt. The other dish, couscous di verdure, had a sour taste, at best. No other flavours were to be detected. The hostess was clearly overloaded and stressed. After taking our plates, she hastily asked if we would like espresso. After we said no she directly brought us the bill while we still had our wine since we only managed to eat half of our plate. The environment and also the house wine (we tried red) is excellent, but the quality of the food, after which i must say i felt nauseous, and the attitude of the hostess really put us off. Everything displayed a sense of wanting to make haste in making you pay without having a love/feel for cooking. I understand running a restaurant can be stressfull, however, the fact that there are always tourists around Erice that are looking for a place to eat is not an excuse to serve whatever they have time to make. In this case, i would just recommend to go back for dinner in Trapani.

We visited yesterday for lunch and had a lovely dining experience. We were looking for traditional Sicilian/West Sicilian dishes and tried the calamari, busiate alla Trapanese, panelle and pasta vongole, all of which were delicious! Very warm and friendly service too. Nice restaurant to eat in when visiting Erice.
