I write this review for all lovers of food, wine and .... Stories. Dining with cherry was not just a dinner but an unforgettable experience. We were greeted with sincere cordiality, Mrs. Lucia showed us the menu and recommended the dishes that most reflected the typicality of the Salemi area. After a tasting of typical appetizers based on vegetables, meats and cheeses prepared with wisdom, we were offered homemade ravioli filled with speck and pistachios seasoned with aubergine cream: absolutely to try also for the particularity of the pastry. Finally, a stuffed rabbit roll was suggested to us: the best rabbit I can remember. We chose bulk Nero d'Avola: despite my initial perplexities about bulk wine, the pairing was perfectly harmonious, without overwhelming the courses. The restaurant, simply furnished, is welcoming, the family atmosphere but above all tells its own story. A short distance from my house, between the Terragialla and Fiumelungo districts, there is a restaurant with a name that is already captivating in itself: "Al cherry - rural tourism". On the occasion of the Christmas lunch, I found myself really well "At the cherry tree". It is a small structure inserted in the rural context of Salento with a receptivity of just under a hundred places, but with surprising culinary potential. First of all, I must mention the excellent welcome of the managers who are of a unique kindness seasoned with a discretion that touches familiarity. Then, it was enough for me to take a look at the menu to realize that the quality of the preparations offered by the restaurant is nothing short of excellent. I dare say, without any fear of denial, that the recipes of the Buongiorno sisters derive from the good local Salemitan tradition and the ingredients, the products are of a freshness that other noble restaurants can only dream of. The ricotta, the olives, the cheeses are genuine and typical. I could go on, but I only say that the dishes I tasted amazed me with the goodness they arouse on the palate. "Al Ciliegio" seems to be at the table in the classic Salemitan family where there is always a very good mother or grandmother who cooks sublime. In short, my experience "Al Ciliegio" was five star plus. I love this type of restaurants that pass on the ancient culinary tradition of my places. I leave the words to the photos ...
