Delicious throughout. This is superb regional cooking with ingredients grown on their own farm just a few kilometres away, presented by knowledge and friendly staff. We had a simple yet fantastic range of antipasto - the bread with garlic cream (made with oil and goats milk) was exceptional. The pasta al forno hearty and sumptuous. The almond torta to finish, wonderful. All washed down with a bay leaf liqueur which was a herbaceous treat. Highly recommended.

If you, like us, appreciate the simplicity of ingredients, and the glorious nature of vegetables treated with care, you will love Roots. From the homemade bread served with aoli, to the courgettes drizzled with olive oil and the charred aubergine cooked in the wood oven, Roots are looking to revive traditional Salentino cuisine. Our piccolo trattoria menu was bountiful, with a bowl of ragu and rigatoni to finish the savoury courses. The only thing that would be great to see, is a few natural wines on the wine list to compliment their ingredient-first approach to food.

A magical slice of peace and great food off a dusty road outside a small village. We had dinner at the sister restaurant Bros' the day before going to Roots and they relayed our water (yes, water) and coffee preferences. This little anecdote shows the class and attention to detail at both restaurants. Roots prepared an elegant and well-executed fish menu -- traditional on Fridays -- and we left warm from the delicious food and hospitality. Will return!

A really amazing experience. First the approach and garden are beautifully done and lit up. We were greeted at the gate and welcomed with a delicious sweet drink. The food is traditional but done so perfectly it really represents the best of the region. I won't list everything but it was all very good - a couple of highlights were the fresh bread and local olive oil, spaggetoni Al forne and a ricotta cake at the end that was so delicate it was one of the Bart deserts I've ever had. Finally the service was fantastic z everyone was so friendly and at the end everyone form the kitchen came to say goodbye. We went for a family birthday and wanted a special evening, we certainly got one.
