はにわ (08/31/2020)
▼The Akiki Library was opened in November 1906 as a commemorative project for the Russo-Japanese War (“Hagi and Nagato's 100 Years to See by Eyes”, Local Publisher, 1998, p.27). The "Tadamu monument" standing in the front yard is a remnant of it. It is a pioneer in the whole country as a municipal library and has attracted attention. Even now, there are many rare books. ▼ This was a kind of "Agora" gathered by the Akiki townspeople. A nursery for infants during the agricultural season was also opened here. A child far away from home seems to have arrived in a rear car or wheelbarrow. ▼The photo shows a day nursery center around 1965. When the mother waving at her child, we can see how the other child is entangled and waving (laughs) (ibid., p.116). You can still see the Chūtama monument in the far right. ▼ During the high-growth period, when the male labor was taken by the company and the labor force in daily life became thin, women began to rise. Although not included in GDP, it was invaluable support. This movement of women's participation in society has also been prominent when men are sent to the battlefield.
