1400¥ entrance fee for 1 adult. At first, I thought it was too expensive hesitating if I should go or not. But the 1400yen worth it! The hill of hope is nice, it's like being in Mediterranean area like Greece. And the cave is just AMAZING.

This place is really fun to visit, the only issue is that you feel that it’s just a museum, so... don’t look for anything spiritual!

Truly worth the entry fee. A brilliant religious precinct with so much to enjoy. Don’t forget the somewhat random yet peaceful Mediterranean area. Visited mid-November and the kōyō were in full swing!

Kousanji temple is the Taj Mahal of the Shimanami Kaido. It was built in the 1930s by an Osaka Industrialist Kozo Kosanji in honor of his mother. It might also be described as a Buddhist Disneyland, with several of its grand structures replicas of some of Japan’s most famous historic buildings. The whole complex is very impressive and, although admission is expensive at ¥1400, it does include admission to Murao-no-Isshin Hill of Hope marble sculpture area above.
