A massive train station with multiple lines from different companies. Get off here for Ueno Park and follow the directions. Lots of shops and restaurants too.

With the new Park Gate open, it is much easier to find your train.

Great bookstore in Ueno Station because of the location, some books are in English (including Japanese history, culture, tourist info) and their TERRIFIC customer service! Needed to find books in English and was escorted to two different places by dtaff. Found a book for a gift, then spotted a cloth, made-in-Japan book cover. Then, two people at the register took the cover out of the packaging to be sure it fit. Then they put on a free, cute paper book cover on my second book. A lovely experience in the middle of a busy station!
