in the same building like the library is an exhibition about the old kyoto from 800AD.
there is a big model of it.
And you can dress yourself in the old fashion of the court.
wear the female or male robes.
it's good to go with a friend, because it's quite complicated to get along with all the layers of cloth.
The rest of the Exhibition is small and in japanese. Try to speak to the guides there. Their english is well enough to understand what is displayed.
There is also a paperroll with the story of the 2nd prime minister who turned into a god and is worshiped today in Japan. The most important shrine to worship this god is nearby.
座って読む場所が大幅に制限されていてコロナ対策もしているのかなと思ったが少し来館者の人数に対して少なすぎる気もしました。
