Amazing hospitality, interesting to see how monks live/ worship. Very tasty vegan dinner and breakfast. On site hot bath

Gorgeous historic temple, room was beautiful and spacious, location was central, and facilities were great. Loved the dinner, got hooked on sesame tofu. Also really enjoyed the onsen and the morning prayers! Staff were trusting and also attentive but gave us our privacy.

Amazing experience! Our room had toilet and bath inside as well as view to the garden which was amazing! Loved the whole experience, would definitely say one of the best of my trip to Japan.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Staff was friendly and explained everything in detail. Dinner and breakfast was delicious. The morning ceremony was amazing. The price was high but it's worth for one night and for this kind of experience.

At first I was worried it would be awkward to stay in a functioning Buddhist temple...but it seems you have minimal interaction with the monks. There are seperate, kind staff who deal with us tourist folk. There was a great kerosene heater and a kotatsu in our room. At the morning service we were welcomed warmly by the master monk and watched in awe (again next to a heater) and breakfast soon after also had a heater. I emphasis the heater because if you are staying in the cooler months it will be FREEZING everywhere else in the temple!
