perfect beach side places but service is superb for foreigners but not for locals.

We only used the long chairs by the beach which they allow if you consume something at the bar. I liked staying in the shade under the trees, among the rich assisted european tourists who like to book expensive resorts and pay high prices in USD 🧡😄

Thande Beach Hotel Ngapali Our only disappointing stay in two weeks traveling through Myanmar: Don’t get me wrong: the beach is absolutely stunning and worthwhile visiting. We also cannot compare this hotel to other hotels/resorts in this area. But of what we have seen in other areas in Myanmar this hotel is not worthwhile the money you’re paying: It appeared overrun by German (and other) package tourists. Thus, despite plenty of sun chairs around, you had difficulties finding an empty space that was not occupied by a towel or the other minor private belonging. Well, this is not the hotel’s fault, but gives it an additional sour taste. Worse was the pool with greenish liquid content that would have been best to water the plants… I haven’t seen anyone bathing in it nor even sitting close to it, probably that would have caused worst diseases. Considering the price of the hotel the breakfast was a joke: You literally had to chase the guy with the coffee to get a half-cup of a bitter tasting blackish fluid. When arriving at the buffet breakfast after 9am you could be sure that they had run out of some basics, whether it being bananas, eggs or baked tomatoes. The rooms are called ‘dated’ at best. As we had stayed in other hotels within the same price category previously (Bagan and Inle Lake) we were very disappointed. These rooms are walled with dark wood that makes them depressing and difficult to chase the mosquitos. There were big gaps underneath the entrance doors and I can only hope that the small frog which ventured into our room one night found its’ way out. On the positive side there are good restaurants along the beach and opposite the road that you won’t starve. Beware: the small restaurants at the beach will require an early start for your sun downer drinks and a reservation for dinner!

Good service and nice sea view

Pleasantly surprised that when we got here they had just finished room upgrades and were starting on new spa and reception area. Rooms were great and roomy with nice bathrooms. Breakfast was average and some items were served cold but great selections. Beach area was extraordinary and chairs were nice to sunbathe. Wait for the vendors on the beach and get great prices on fruit, boat rides and food.
