Hertz

ZERO STARS. Not 1 star, 0 stars. Read the reviews and DO NOT RENT. I wish I read the reviews before booking a car through them, but I didn't since it was through hertz, thinking they were a reputable company. We booked a car online and went to the office to ask questions and see if we can rent the car a day early. The said they didn't have any cars available and to come back tomorrow. We asked what time they opened and said we'll be back in the morning. When we got there the next day, they said they didn't have any cars available. They put our name on a list to call us. We were 5th on the list because there were other people before us. We said that we already have a reservation, we are just here to pick up the car. The guy said that it doesn't matter because they don't have any cars and that they will call us, and that it should be in about 2 hours. There was a man there dropping off his car who said that they went through this too a few days ago, and that they do not call you, you just have to be there waiting around and grab a car when it becomes available. So we went to budget and got a car through them, which did have cars available. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. My question is why didn't they tell us this the day before when we were in their office asking questions? Seems like they are deliberately trying to hide information. Not to mention how extremely rude and inconsiderate the guy behind the counter was. To make matters worse, we made the reservation through booking, which already charged us even though we didn't get the car. Now it is impossible to get in touch with them, so I am going through the credit card company to see if I can get the money back that way. Apparently they aren't even associated with hertz because hertz is unable to help either. The whole experience was frustrating, unpleasant, and time consuming. Save yourself the hassle.

Pretty much a scam. You book and pay for good quality cars, at pick up they tell you it’s not available and give you the lowest quality ones. No discount or whatsoever ever is offered Very bad quality of service as well by the staff.

This place is a complete scam. Do not rent. They leave their bookings available online and then tell you there are no cars - and try to get you to book a significantly more expensive car. They are extremely rude when they realise they can’t scam you, including ignoring you when you try to ask them questions. Hertz Corporate cannot help you because they are a privately owned franchise. Avoid avoid avoid.

SCAM! Worst car rental experience ever! We booked a car weeks in advance and when we came to pick it up it wasn't available. They told us we had to pay double the price to get a car from ha higher price category. I've never experienced this before with any car rental company. When we said we needed to think about it (we really needed a car but were so chocked about the unfriendly and unhelpful behaviour) another customer (a mexican) came in and got the car that they told us they didn't have! My boyfriend asked the man before he left and he told us he just made the booking yesterday while we booked weeks in advance! They also tricked a man to pay crazy amount of money for a car while we were waiting in line. I wouldn't recommend anyone to rent from Hertz in Tulum! They are discriminating and tricking you to pay more money!

Also felt like they are running a big SCAM. Booked a car online, arrived, told me they have no more cars and wanted me to pay an outrageous amount of money to get the last car. Big waste of time, don't book here.
