Taxi Libre

If you are going to tijuana do a little research on transportation before you go. These are the worst taxis to take. These ones and the orange ones. They supposedly are regulated and have set fairs but one price is always quoted and or negotiated and it always changes on arrival. I have taken these taxis many times and know from experience. You dont have to take my word but do a little research on public transportation in tijuana. They rip americans or anyone who doesnt speak Spanish off the most.

Just do a little Google research before you go. Know the difference between Taxi Amarillo and Taxi Libre. Agree on a price 'before' you get in. I paid US$8 from San Ysidro Line to Albercas El Vergel water park; a decent deal for a white/libre taxi ride. On the same trip in reverse there were five white/libre taxis lined up outside the water park. The first taxi driver wanted US$15 for this return trip. I politely declined and walked toward another taxi; but this first driver counter-offered 12 and finally 10 and I accepted. Had a pleasant conversation about recent volcanoes on the way back to the border line. Know a little Spanish; Know the haggling procedure; be polite, then you will be happy.

I would never take this taxi. When the taxi was going to take us to mercado libre he said it was 35 peso whenhe dropped us off he said it was100 peso. He took us all over town. Please do not get into these taxi cab.

Negotiations can be made with driver.
