La Maquina

I was surprised despite reading information that there were several places to camp here that La Maquina was the only place I found despite asking various locals. It is a rather nondecript place located just outside of town on the highway to Ocampo. You can't miss the entrance sign. There are 4 generations of a family that own this place which was years ago a grain mill. The lady who runs the place is very nice and accommodating. She does speak some English. Cuatro Cinegar is located in the desert so it was still quite hot during the 3 days I spent here the 2nd week of October and cooled somewhat at night. My biggest complaint was the flies everywhere and they seem to be most prevalent from 12:00noon to 6:00pm during the warmest time of day. The campground does have some shade but it is minimal. There is electricity at the one large palapa and bathrooms/toilets. There is hot water if you request but it was so warm during the day that I took cold water showers. This place can accommodate RVs as well as tents. It is a short drive to stores and gas in town. I would have stayed here a couple of days more had it not been for the intense heat and constant flies since I was tent camping. That is why I gave this place a 3-star instead of 4.

An excellent place, its facilities are nice, you can camp or get to your cabin, with the best attention by the owners

A cozy place with a spectacular view of the stars, I loved the camping area with its log benches and firewood available for the campfire, the very clean and accessible bathrooms as well as some spotlights near the area in case you don't want to be so dark and the best the treatment of Mrs. Lulu that transmits a peace and joy like nowhere else if you can have breakfast outdoors on the table outside breathing the aroma of serene combined with the freshly baked cookies that she gives you for dessert is one of the things that you won't be able to pay with money anywhere else.

Excellent attention and at an incredible cost, the cabins have what you need for a pleasant weekend!
