and a very peaceful place to reflect has some beautiful sculptures.
Good museum, one of the few in the hotel zone, costs 80 pesos to get in which is very reasonable. There is one long ramp to get up to the museum but there are a few elevators down further in you need to use it, there is also a second long ramp at the far end to get back down. The museum has many ceramic and jade artifacts but the labels are only in Spanish, you can use the Google translate app photo feature to read them if you don't read Spanish though. However, there are large signs that talk about the history that are in both Spanish and English throughout.
Outside and on the ground level of the archeological zone, unfortunately it had closed for the day when we arrived. One thing we found odd was the level of trust going on with the metal railings of the building.
There is a bus stop on both sides of the road a two minute walk from the entrance.
Great museum. I didn't expect so interesting. Spent there half a day a few years ago and am planning to return as I didn't read all the information. The exposition is great and - what I liked most - it's not only about showing archeological pieces with short labels, but also about history and culture of the zone and of the entire Mayan civilization covering a huge area of the modern Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. Incredibly interesting!
Probably many people will disagree, but I found this museum even more interesting than Museo Maya de Merida which is considered to be the main museum of Mayan culture.
A lot of very good information. Well laid out. Very clean.
The museum is full of artifacts and there is plenty of explanation on the wall.
There are a few, but extremely detailed maps, however their colours could have been a little more lively, not that faint.
The AC is helping a lot, especially if one is visiting during the hot part of the year.
