Sian Ka'an

An incredible nature reserve rich in flora and fauna. I’ve seen only a glimpse of it and look forward to exploring more of it in the future...

Very sad visit - as of January 2021 don’t go there expecting untouched paradise away from all the Tulum glitter: the beach is covered in algae and trash. It is littered with plastic objects and particles. It is a very very sad sight, especially for a natural reserve, and the few people we met on the beach happened to share that opinion. I hope the park/local authorities organize removal campaigns but this seems to be a deep-running issue along the Caribbean coast.

Highly regulated since it's a preserve so you can't snorkel without a life vest. Therefore no diving down or swimming under water. So for those of us who free dive, skilled swimmers or divers ...ehhhh it's just ok. The wildlife is definitely there to see on the good side. Can be a bit chilly when your day starts out at 61 and only climbs to mid 70's😬 the wind when the boat is going full speed is a wee bit too chilly to fully enjoy.

Do the floating tour it’s beyond magical requires no swimming because the current does all the work, this is a slice of heaven untouched by man. You can drive to the complex and take the tour inside!

If you have money take the full option of trip. I took the less expensive and probably didn't see a lot of beuatiful reserve. We had about 2 hour trip from Tulum and the road was awful. A lot of holes in the road. But reserve is beuatiful. We had also a trip with a boat. Unfortunatelly we haven't seen dolphins or crocodiles but we saw turtle. There was also snorkeling. The reef isn't breathtaking but fish are colorful and nice. The most amazing is natural pool, you can take beautiful pictures there. To sum up it is worth seeing but it's not as much amazing as people from travel agency saying while they trying to persuade you to take this trip.
