Museo de Antropología de Xalapa

Very good museum, so far second only to the one in Mexico City. It’s a way out of the centre of town, but a taxi shouldn’t cost more than 50peso. Signage isn’t in English, but audio guides are available for 50peso - you leave ID as security as well and collect at the end of your visit. We spent at least 4hours to discover everything in detail, but a visit can be managed in a lot less time for a casual interest. The big draw is of course the Olmec heads, but the whole museum is interesting with statuary, artefacts and murals. There is a small cafe upstairs as well.

Very nice place. This museum houses a very large collection of archeological pieces from the most important regions in the state where the main civilizations aroused. However, only a small amount of artifacts or items are displayed as the vast majority remains secured underground.

This museum is one of the most interesting in history and antiques from the olmec as the mother culture of mesoamerica.

This is a Beautiful museum. Truly impressive. They do provide phones that provide english explanations. The heads are stunning.
