Museum of Contemporary Art of Monterrey

Went to this museum with high expectations. Building looked impressive on outside. Paid 45 pesos entry fee. Turned out only 2 exhibits were open. Both were very mediocre. I have been in many art museums and this one is not ready for prime time. Maybe in the future they will improve the quality and quantity of exhibits but for now I would not recommend visiting.

I love this place from its design. There was only one exhibition and that was a bit of a disappointment. I went into the gift shop for a few items and struck up a conversation with Ismael. He figured out what I had in mind and what I liked, so he made very good suggestions. He went as far as taking a Carrington poster out of its frame for me. I ended up making two more purchases after my "final" one. You have a great asset in Ismael. He's a keeper (he HAS been there a long time). Only experiences that exceed my expectations get five stars from me. I went back for s couple of more items. The girl was just as efficient, but I fled for my MasterCsrd's life.

Lovely museum. Beautiful architecture in which to enjoy the works, many by lesser known artists. Great place to experience the rich Mexican heritage.

I had visited here a couple years ago on a whim. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, because I have had generally negative experiences with contemporary art but wanted to give it another try. Many of the exhibits were genuinely very interesting and I had a great time perusing the whole place alone, since it was an early Saturday morning. There was even an immersive exhibit that I remember fondly to this day ("ENFOCAR LA MIRADA").

The unique good thing that this museum have is all the technological museum futuristic thing that is in the second floor. Everything else is trash. Literally, and the security guards dont let you get closer 1m from the art. Don't waste you money and time.
