So beautiful and nice park next to it with a view of the SintJan. Beautiful piece of Gouda.

This Jerusalem Chapel actually refers to Jerusalem. The city where the Gouwenaar Gijsbert Willemsz Raet has been and, in good use, after this pilgrimage in memory of a chapel built. The left part seems to be a separate building, but has actually been part of the original chapel. Has received a different layout and facade. For years, the youth club De Gonz spent years there. The right part has been restored quite original. The building was used by art center Burgvliet and is now used for various purposes such as music performance or art exhibitions. If I remember correctly, Gijsbert Raet was buried in his chapel. The original bronze tomb plate of this is in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Leiden, Utrecht and Delft also owned such Jerusalem chapels, but only those of Gouda are still virtually intact and therefore unique in the Netherlands. It is therefore not for nothing a national monument.
