This monument is near palace Soestdijk. The monument was build in 1815. The distance between the palace and the monument is exactly a kilometer. The monument remembers the Battle of Waterloo, Belgium In 1815. It’s easy to reach the monument but there is no parking place. Easiest way would be to use a bike or mother cycle. The nearest train station is 1,7 km away from it.

Fence around the needle was closed, had to read the plaques from a distance...

A nice route for cycling, a nice lane from Soestdijk palace to it. Too bad the text is difficult to read. This commemorates the battle for Waterloo. King William II and his army, led by Napoleon, stopped the French near Brussels in 1815, until he was reinforced by the English. Together they defeated the French and we probably still speak Dutch IPV French now.
