This museum railway runs through the hilly landscape of Limburg between Schin-op-Geul and Kerkrade Centrum, and is nowadays referred to as the "Miljoenenlijntje". This nickname is derived from the rail route that was laid between 1925 and 1934 from Schaesberg to Simpelveld to service the coalmines and that cost one million guilders per installed kilometer. The line was opened for passenger transport in 1949 and since 1992, only steam trains or so-called Schienenbuses have been used. The ride through the sloping landscape can be interrupted at several points for a nice walk.
