Pretty good ride. The bikes have no gears and this makes it hard to keep up when the bikes are rolling downhill.
What a nice asset to the area. Normally we cycle and walk a lot in the woods and on the heather near Havelte, but this gives another dimension. Because you ride on rails, you can focus much better on the environment. When you cycle at a leisurely pace, you also produce minimal noise. I read in other reviews about the bumpiness of the track. This is inherent to the narrow gauge, but again: drive relaxed and enjoy! If you want to race you have to be elsewhere! If I may mention a small downside, then the times on the board are indeed not correct with the times indicated in the mail / telephone.
But all in all a real must and I hope that they will soon be able to extend the line to the intended 7km. !!!
Nice experience, nice bike ride and the reservation was neat. After some explanation we were on our way unfortunately we didn't see anything we had to see. On the way back it was told where you were cycling and if you pay attention you will see it. Nice initiative. I would give as a tip to add signs so that you know what you are seeing or going to see, but I understood that they were already working on this.
Thought to have a nice outing with both of our ladies, but unfortunately.
Had made a reservation (via e-mail) for two bicycles, despite reaction our reservation was not known? Bicycles were therefore not available.
In addition, it is stated on both the website and at the entrance that you can start at 3:30 PM in July and August. When contacted by e-mail, it was indicated that it was at 3 p.m. On arrival it is unclear where you should be exactly (butterfly garden is somewhat hidden), so we first walked to a restaurant across the street from where you have to register. Because of this we arrived just after 3:00 PM, but still well before the time, which is indicated at the front door, of the registration desk.
Here we were told by the person we had been in contact with via email that our reservation was not known ???
Initiative may be nice, but implementation is far from customer-friendly. In the end we went to eat / drink on the other side to ease the grief of the girls.
Quite a bit of work to be done for the initiators to make it somewhat of a "success".

Response to owner message:
Dear Erik, we do not deny that we are approx. We were 7 minutes later than at the departure location, this was due to a delay on the way. We could indeed have called but thought we would just make it. It remains special that you insist that we arrived at you at 3:30 PM. On arrival you spoke to us about this in a childish way, even then I indicated that it was very overdone.
You indicate by e-mail that the bicycles reserved by us have been rented out by an employee to others at 2:55 pm, what if we had arrived at 2:59 pm? Then you could have disappointed the other party.
As I have already indicated to you by email, adjusting the departure time on the website and at the entrance seems to me to be a small effort. Maybe you should put a little more time into this instead. responding to reviews.
Nevertheless, we wish you a lot of strength with the success of "cycling on the rails" and of course your butterfly garden, but given the reviews of this you still have a lot of work to do at the butterfly garden.
P.s. sandwiches at restaurant Oer. were very tasty, this is highly recommended!
Only active for 1.5 years and the passion is shining. At the turnaround point we got some extra info and we could see it immediately in the way back. The burial mounds and hangars were reflected in nature.
Above all, keep developing and you have a top attraction in nature.
