Took a bike tour out of Amsterdam to visit this cheese farm. What a unique experience. First time around cheese production and its equipment. The owner was really cool and witty, made for an interesting time. A recommended excursion!
This is such an amazing place. I went there with my cousin and we enjoyed so much knowing about the cheese process and the culture
We visited this cheese farm as a part of our group tour from India organised by KESARI.It was a great funsince we could see pets, the cows, sample gouda cheese, and see how cheese and clogs are made.
The Rembrandt Hoeve is a traditional farm specialized in making cheese and clogs. Located just outside Amsterdam in the middle of the Dutch polder, this farm dates back to the 15th century. With windmills and farms dotting the landscape, it’s hard to believe that the farm is only a 10-minute drive from the centre of Amsterdam. The Rembrandt Hoeve is open to visitors seven days a week.
Staff was very cordial and had explained us well all the activities including live demo of cheese preparation. They also told us that clogs initially were used by farmers during sowing and farm-work in mud and soil.Overall good experience .
They make some amazing varieties of Cheese here and the process is explained in detail to the visitors, just bear the Cheesy smell and you will be able to understand the work involved, we just take it of the shelves bill it buy it and consume it.
Apart from the Cheese they also make wooden shoes for all ages. A lot of souvenirs are available at the Rembrandt Hoeve which are worth buying, great staff with a lot of smiling faces, eager to help you decide what you should take.
Great cheese and Clog farm. The farmer is so funny and engaging when giving presentations. The cheese you can buy there is also very tasty and there a many interesting souvenirs there that you can pick up.
