Crematorium & Uitvaartcentrum Alkmaar

This is a neat crematorium, it has not been there for long and is visible in a challenging way when you drive on the ring of Alkmaar. I like bold, artistic architecture when it comes to 'eternity alongside limitation'. Contrary to what the location of the building suggests, it is still against a very busy traffic road, the view from the auditorium in the direction of the dunes and Bergen is stunningly beautiful. That is actually exactly what you are looking for at a moment of cremation, the view of that which slowly moves with the seasons, nature. The 'crew' of the crematorium makes a 'slick' impression and what is nice is that from the moment you enter you do not have to think about anything and you are 'guided' by them, which is very pleasant at such an emotionally difficult moment. The auditoriums are beautiful, almost dazzling and when you first enter you feel pleasantly surprised. The reception and 'coffee in advance' annex family room are also duly furnished with tasteful furniture and a luxury coffee machine. There is more than enough parking space, however, the plants there still need to get some 'going'. By the way, I forgot that the aftercare is also good; you get clear information about the entire follow-up process. Important matters are neatly notified one after the other, things like; ashes destination, costs, extras regarding the ashes, souvenir items, relics and so on. In my opinion, the staff should show a bit more daring and not be too businesslike (and therefore distant), this to give the crematorium a more 'own face', especially there there is certainly some profit to be made. The condolence space also disappointed me a bit although that is of course a very personal impression. Overall: a crematorium that you certainly should not be ashamed of as a private client!

Coming out of the bus after a journey of 2 1/2 hours, there was nowhere to be seen the crematorium that was hidden behind sports buildings and winding roads. Nowhere was something indicated with a sign and no passerby knew where it was. Not even someone who just walked by. The distance would be 6 minutes according to the travel planner but I walked for 45 minutes. Thank goodness I'm still on the move. Another elderly female had fortunately met a local resident who knew where it was. I had to miss a large part of my girlfriend's farewell. Later I heard that the motorists also had difficulty finding it. When I finally arrived, I had to walk around the entire building to find the entrance.

Just attended a funeral in your crematorium. Well organized in itself but I still have a few points for improvement. I have a walking limitation and upon entering the reception room there appeared to be no more seats available. There were few seats at all. Too little in my opinion. Most people are not of age when they attend a funeral. Furthermore, it would be desirable if the disabled parking spaces were provided with the normal blue signs. Now people also stand on it without a card. And last but not least, it would be nice if a crematorium sign is visible at the exit.
