De Ven

The lighthouse, called "De Ven", is an historic site, worth a visit. Commissioned in 1700, it is one of the oldest lighthouses in the Netherlands. It is still in operation. Don't miss the antique plaque at the back, so on the see side after climbing the stair to the top of the dike.

We went there today (7/8/2018) early in the morning to see a magnificent sunrise. The Netherlands has such beautiful spots and this is one of them. If you are in the area, make sure to visit the historic towns of (from North to South) Medemblik, Enkhuizen and, my favourite, Hoorn

This is a very old lighthouse and you have a beautiful view over the IJsselmeer. You have more than 180 degrees of overview over the IJsselmeer because the bend here makes a bend. The only downside is that there are only 2 benches. That should have been at least 5 or 6.
