It is good that there is attention for the landscape

Fairytale beautiful, but also educational! Well worth a visit.

Very small, but very informative. When displaying the miniature landscapes made and maintained by volunteers, the main focus is on the message. The landscapes are beautiful, not overwhelming, but only meant to give you an impression. Be sure to free up some time to read the information panels. That's what it's all about. Speak to the guide if you have additional questions. Very interesting.

Another cold morning in February 2018 that I am already on my way early. Often the ideal time to find surprising and unexpected things. I am not far from Beek near the Das and Boom Foundation where I see a sandy path that I have never noticed and that runs up towards the moraine that once formed a long time ago and is characteristic of this landscape near Nijmegen, Ubbergen, Beek and Berg en Dal. I drive up and after a 150 meter ride I come across a fairytale house decorated with gnomes and different species of forest animals. On a sign it says that the Dutch Landscape Association is housed here. It is a pity that I am out of season here and can not visit the gardens behind. Still, I can take a reasonable look at it and get a good impression of what it will look like here in the spring and summer. The silence and tranquility that this place now radiates, I also like very well and I have no regrets to follow this path. Only that fairytale house was already worth it. Today, Monday November 26, 2018, I am here again. I have contacted and lucky because I may come. First I get a very detailed explanation from Tim Leenders about everything that the Association has recently achieved in the field of management and protection of landscape and animals. Then a personal tour, both inside and outside where I see everything and hear what I missed then. So today I see the landscape gardens and also meet Dommel de das who has had his own place and shelter for 10 years. I also fully participate in the museum itself. Tim is a young enthusiastic and passionate employee who is particularly interested in all positive and successful projects. The VNC is committed to restoring and preserving the cultural landscape and their mission is to make the Netherlands beautiful again. He proudly tells about the Icon landscape in Noorbeek in South Limburg, an area that shows how beautiful, rich and inspiring our country can be. Since there has been no national policy on National Landscapes since 2011, the Association has only started the 'Icon landscapes' campaign. It is intended to reward areas with undisputed iconic value for the Dutch cultural landscape with the appreciation they deserve. At the same time, it is an incentive for other areas to do something similarly. Of course I take plenty of time to photograph everything, I get the space and can go wherever I want. An inspiring visit that I thank my host for, who likes to see me again. Outside I decide to do a part of the Walk through the valley Palland where they have applied in large what I could see in the miniature landscapes in miniature. During this walk through beautiful autumn-colored forests, hills and valleys I learn all about Grafting, Terrasranden, Dry Dances, 'tunnels', Wildwallen, Hagen and winding hedges, braid hedges, whales and parapets. There are worlds open to me, here and there you will see views that occasionally lead to deep insights and reflections.
