It lies shining in the grass, this stainless steel, silver mirror apple by sculptor David Mackay. In 2011 he gave it the mysterious title 'Prophecies of light advancing light', for the Vleutenaren it is simply 'De Appel van Vleuten'. The client was André Verder, director of the eponymous trading company who wanted to donate a sculpture to Vleuten on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. The shape of the apple refers to the fruit cultivation that was (and still is) important for a long time. Add a bench, plateau with steps, and look: what do you see then?
