Since this summer, at the beginning of the longest street in the Netherlands, a beautiful mural can be seen over ... the road itself. Artist JanisdeMan (in daily life: Jan Heinsbroek) put together a collage of a number of characteristic facades on the Straatweg, including the Water Tower, the entrance to the Juliana Park and the Zuilen Health Center. The artwork was made in consultation with residents, at the request of the Municipality. It has been working for years to renovate the five-kilometer-long shopping street together with entrepreneurs and residents. Long ago, in 1812, the 'paved road' was built by order of Napoleon Bonaparte. Wondering what he would have thought of this beautiful painting, next to the entrance of the Aldi ....
