On a serious note .. Met Leo de Klijn for the first time in March 2013. Only in a situation where we would rather not have been .. Namely, my best friend Wouter had died at the age of 53. Marleen, the wife of my HERO, approached Leo to accompany the funeral. And everything related to it. Wout had managed to build a large (social) circle around him. He was loved by many, which meant that over 300 guests attended the funeral. Managing this sad crowd naturally requires knowledge and skills from the funeral director. But also an intrinsic passion for the profession. In addition, I was amazed at the calm and commitment with which he accompanied the immediate family and friends. In addition to the "soft" aspects of counseling, there is also a lot of administration involved in a death. Arranging the insurance up to and including the mourning cards. Helping to design the advertisements and selecting the box and funeral car. The flora .. Leo also has a lot of creativity when it comes to designing the photo and film presentations. In short, you really have to be at home in all markets. And he is. But as a funeral director you are so much more. Director, psychologist, broad shoulder and extended family member. Leo is on the floor with both feet. Takes all the time to talk to you and turn wishes into a respectful program. Due to his wealth of experience, he also comes up with good ideas and plans that you do not think about due to the intense emotions. I never realized what a wonderful job it is to guide families and friends in this role in a process when a loved one has died. After Wouter's funeral I still had contact with Leo and asked him his business card. My wife and I are absolutely convinced that something should ever happen to our loved ones, or ourselves. Then we call in Leo. When our father entered a terminal phase, I took out the business card. In consultation with the family, thought it was a good idea to call Leo and explain to him how the situation was and that my father could die any moment. What had to be arranged and whether Leo could manage this in Hilversum because he himself works in the Utrecht / Houten region. After a clear explanation of what we as a family should do, I hung up. To unfortunately contact him again 3 days later .. Of course De Klijn Uitvaartzorg was immediately at our side. After our father passed away on April 6, Leo took full control. Of course often in consultation. Particularly because of his relaxed style of guidance and professionalism, the family, but especially with my 86-year-old mother, was able to say goodbye in peace. Not long after that, we discussed the entire process with Leo, and his wife who also supported them where necessary. Mother was able to select an urn and other family members who needed it, a jewel with the ashes incorporated. The glass hologram on Pa's chest was beautiful. On the initiative of Leo. Furthermore, a beautifully designed Powerpoint presentation and ditto signing with various photos of our father at the box. At the cremation itself, Leo was a very pleasant host who eloquently announces the speakers and assists them with appropriate quips. The death of a family member is a serious event. Then a passionate professional with a passion for people is a must. No "business crow" from a large funeral organization that rushes to perform a "trick played" within a certain time. The farewell to our mother became surprisingly so personal that I couldn't imagine beforehand. Leo's professional and appropriate performance provided structure in a period in which we thought we were in an 8-lane position.
