After visiting you should never forget what happened

The Anne Frank House tour is absolutely heart breaking, although it's mind blowing to be there knowing at one point the Frank family were too and that some of their items and decor etc is still there. What got me most was the bookcase, the original bookcase is still there for you to see. I don't want to spoil anything else, but I definitely recommend you see this all for yourself, you won't regret it!

One of the places in the world that you have to visit at least once. Definitely book tickets in before otherwise you will have to wait in line for half a day.

The Anne Frank House museum is a very roomy modern visitor centre that connects onto the house itself. The museum is incredibly busy so the experience has been streamlined a lot. Every visitor gets an audio guide included with their ticket which is available in many languages. There is a free cloakroom where you must leave any bags and coats, which helps to keep the museum a bit more open despite the crowds - but note you won't be allowed to store suitcases or other large bags. You can optionally buy a ticket with an "introductory program", which is a talk by a staff member in a special side room in the new building that gives an overview of the families' lives in the context of the events of the war. The talk includes a number of photos, videos, and a few items from the house to give more insight. An added bonus of the talk is that the room gives an opportunity to see the secret annex from the outside, which you obviously cannot see from the street. I would highly recommend the introductory program - of course it does repeat a lot of what the audio guide describes later on, but it is well explained and there is an opportunity to ask extra questions. The museum itself is good, the audio guide works with a number of pictures and videos to tell the story of the family. The annex itself is mostly empty but the original bookcase is still in place and it gives you a good idea of how cramped and dangerous their situation was. Overall well recommended but very busy so do think about buying tickets as early as possible!
