The Cheese Museum

Only cheese market postponed till spring 2021...

Cute museum. Don't expect to spend too much time here. It is quite small. Building itself is gorgeous: fusion of old and new. €5 to visit.(is more than enough too)

Good place for kids and young people to learn more about the way of cheese production

Recommend to visit this museum since it is really enjoyable to gather information about its history, tools and to see the development. Nice to watch a short documentary there as well!

Me and my boyfriend decided to pass the day at Alkmaar little city. We walked around for a while till we find the cheese museum. We just loved it! And we live in the Netherlands, so we know exactly what's a tourist trap. At the entrance after you purcahse your tickets they offer a small peace pf young gouda cheese for each of us. The museum is very interactive and tells a lot about the history of the cheese industry in NL. We were surprised once we've been in cheese "museums" in Amsterdam that were such a sad experience. You will learn about the cheese making, kind of cheese, cheese buisness , see a lot of old utensils and even old TV publicities. We really enjoy and we totally recommend.
