A unique museum about the region. The chicory root has been very important here from the late 18th century to the early 20th century. This is a coffee substitute from the chicory root. This period is referred to here as the "Golden Age of Dantumadeel".

Educational, fun and a nice outing

Nice museum of chichoreiteelt which was great especially in the early 19th century in Damwoude. With a large number of drying plants and factories. This is the only one left. Chichorei was used as a substitute for coffee could not be imported by the English zeecordon. In addition, there are some furnished homes from that time and a mill. Very nice and educational.

This museum is unique in its kind, volunteers guide you and tell you great anecdotes, have been here several times but still hear new things. Thank you again.
