Best car rental service and automotive repair
Don't believe a few of the 5-star reviews below, they're employees I saw there in Manila.
Emerald Club Exec members will have the opportunity to have their credit card information stolen here =)
*Pros:*
- Ivy was informative after the credit theft
*Cons:*
- They steal your credit card information via making a sketchy copy on carbon paper (and possibly flipping to memorize the CVV code). I was charged $99 four times from misc. online store purchases until my bank called me to handle it since they noticed the suspicious activity. This happened only a couple hours after I rented the car here
- This isn't really the same efficient and professional National you know and love in the US; just the branding. They're really called "International Car Rental Inc." based in Philippines
- Forced me to pay an additional unnecessary day of P2200 ($45) although I tried to return the car the night before and I was well within the 24/day rate upon the return attempt. Basically, their sketchy smart*ss driver wasn't there to transport us from the abandoned parking lot to the terminal office. So our fault they said.
- Staff is noisy, "chismis", and aren't trained to be handling international passengers visiting the country
- We had to drop off someone using the same car to be rented to us
- Staff gave smart*ss and sarcastic comments when we said we were late to a meeting and we didn't have time to carpool other people using our car
- This smart*ss carpool driver actually gets to hold your information with your own credit information when picking and dropping you off (possibly how it got stolen in the first place.)
- They're "return area" is actually an unsecured, dim lit old parking lot in an abandoned hotel that is used for storage of abandoned cars. Trashy logistics
- Car only had 1/4 gas filled
- Car was filthy with old food and crumbs, exterior scratches, and sticky surfaces all over the place
- Office in Terminal 1 is hard to find and is just as old, third-world, and trashy as the service mentioned above
- Did I mention they steal your credit card information to make illegal online purchases? only hours after suspiciously manually taking your credit card information? (At least be a decent criminal and do it days after...)
Just don't do it. It's NOT the real National Car Rental
Good car at good price
Friendly and helpful staff
Minor glitch with GPS Unit, not able to charge, not a major issue
Happy to use again on next visit
New car was provided. Staff was friendlym reasonable price
Avoid if possible!!!
We took a Toyota Vios at the airport:
1. Landed at terminal 3, they brought us to terminal 1 for paperwork, then to terminal 2 to the car. All together over 2 hours.
2. Car was dirty inside and outside, full of scratches, some engine covers hanging on wires.
3. They informed us we can’t use the car in Manila for one out of 7 days due to some city regulations. But we had to pay the price for the whole week.
4. Engine broke after 150km. Called National, they came with replacement after 10 hours, leaving us waiting in Philippines mountains till 2 am. Replacement car condition was not better.
5. When returning car, they charged us 250USD claiming we damaged the engine. Additionally they were refusing to provide any document proving what exactly happened and on which basis they claim its my fault. Instead of discussing, the manager started shouting.
Never seen anything like that..
