It is a very old historic building and it could be used to renovate it. It is small and certainly renovation costs will be low.

Currently, the State Archives in Łódź is located here.

1821 a New Town was established in Łódź, the center of which was Nowy Rynek, the present Plac Wolności. Six years later, ie in 1827, two buildings were erected on the New Market, constituting the pillars of the gate leading to ul. Piotrkowska. They are the former Evangelical-Augsburg church of Saint. Trinity and the town hall. The architect of both buildings was Bonifacy Witkowski. The town hall was erected on a quadrilateral plan, crowned with a tower with a bell tower and a clock, which was a gift of an industrialist from Ozorków Fryderyk Schlösser (its mechanism was started in 1834 by watchmaker Michał Strangos). Until the outbreak of World War I, the town hall was the seat of municipal authorities. After its completion, the building was taken over by the Archives of Historical Records of the City of Łódź. Currently, it is the seat of the State Archives in Łódź. In contrast to the neighboring church, which was rebuilt, almost from the beginning, the town hall has not changed its appearance and is one of the most valuable and oldest monuments of classical architecture in Łódź. Tip: When viewing the town hall building, it is worth paying attention to the commemorative plaques on its façade. Interesting fact: On the Town Hall building from the side of ul. Piotrkowska, there is an inactive power switch. Perhaps it was used to turn off the energy in the tramway network (the first electric trams started to run on Piotrkowska street on December 23, 1898). Its producer was Siemens-Schuckert Werke. "In 1903 at Siemens AG, after the acquisition of Schuckertwerke, two production departments were created, the first based on the existing Siemens & Halske AG - producing low-current equipment and the second Siemens-Schuckertwerke GmbH, dealing with high-current devices. (...) During World War II most of the company's production was directed to the needs of the army, and Siemens AG participated in the production of V-1 and V-2 missiles (...) the group began to plunder the industrial substance of the occupied countries (including Poland and the USSR). also the work of forced laborers, prisoners of war and concentration camp prisoners deported to Germany - among others, they worked in the Siemens-Schuckertwerke GmbH high-power plant facilities, which were located near the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp and in the Siemens & Halske AG facilities located at the camp concentration camp Groß-Rosen
