Unfriendly staff at arrival desk. We had in the contract deposit 300 Euros, but budget woman increased it to 1600 Euros or you can buy insurance for 140 Euros. Other deposits was taken for the petrol, if you do not refill (112 Euros). HORRIBLE. She was arrogant and unfriendly. When we pick uped the car, the girl was also very bored and disturbed, when we need explain something. No good reason to return to this company. I do not know, why headquarter does not do any improvements, if I see other comments. The man in car return was better.

Be careful. They seem to be very nice at the budget rental desk at Funchal Airport. But in fact it is a total rip off. They charge you additional insurances without asking!!! These insurances cost as much as the actual rent so they double the price for you. They pretend technical problems and ask for your signature. Be aware and avoid Budget in Funchal!!!!

Charged 600 euros for someone trying to break in. Maybe. Make sure you take detailed photos of all the outside of the car, inside the doors etc. Standard european rental experience. Staff are fine and not at fault. Its company policy.

Everything went well with us. Only the vehicle handover in Portuguese cost a star. English would have been helpful. Vehicle and handling top!
