Surprice Car Rentals - Madeira

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Very rude staff. They tried to ask me for a deposit that exceeded the limit of my card. Then the staff tried to push very expensive insurances for loads of money to solve the issue. When I said I would prefer to cancel they asked me to sign for documents of cancellation (but I didn't do the reservation with them) and after all this they refused the employees refused to provide their name and refused to take me back to the airport (their office is near the airport but they pick you with a van) stay away from them..!!! Worst experience ever. Then, off course, the solution of the company is "send us an email" and they even justify the ride attitude of their personal... Not providing their personal details for a complaint is doing their job? Refusing to take me to the airport because I didn't want to sign documents is part of their job? Very poor understanding of what customer service is.

I booked through discovercars.com a car at Surprise Car Rentals a cheap deal for a Seat Ibiza. Many times before I booked at cheap agencies but does not mean that they are bad. The instructions given to wait for the shuttle bus were poor at arrival. I waited for 30 mins and the women who drove along waiter for more than an hour. Once arrived at the very small container box office, the guy tried to block the deposit of 1.800 euro with my credit card but did not accept which was strange, never had this problem before.. He proposed me another solution where deposit would be 300 euros but that would increase the price of my rental almost 3 times which I did not agree with. Another solution was where I had to pay 65 euros extra and the deposit was around 1000 euros and that magically worked with the credit card. Not sure but I think they kind of did something with the first transaction that 'did not work' which made me pay more in the first place. Seeing the other reviews, it could be possible. Did not have any difficulties with the car damage check afterwards though.

Very good experience, don't understand why people complain about charges. If you don't want to pay damages, just take the coverage, made our holidays much better. If you rented a small car, perhaps take an upgrade, it is worth the difference. Will rent again.

Very very cheap & shuttle to and from airport worked all fine

BEWARE!!!!! USE WITH CAUTION!!!! As per previous review I’ve just avoided being scammed for damage to an under sill that we didn’t cause. VIDEO SLOWLY ALL the car on pick up- roof, sills inside etc. Don’t be distracted by being identified obvious scratches on pick up and miss something. We didn’t accept damage and wife created a fuss which eventually they decided not to charge us. I then got in writing that no damaged was caused. My advice would be to give this company a wide berth. It probably suggests why their prices are so cheap!! BEWARE!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
