DO NOT RENT FROM SIXT! I am editing my review with an update that Sixt charged my credit card with extra 400€ as damage compensation although we had 100% insurance. Cheats! I will be taking this up with the company Sixt. While our interaction here was satisfactory, the staff was professional and friendly, after two weeks of our rental, we get an email claiming we are liable to pay for a damage to the car which was already there at the time of pick-up in Lisbon and the employee here had satisfied us that since we have the FULL insurance, we are covered for everything so we don't need to worry. This kind of sleaziness is exactly what undermines good experiences. And this was after I have got a confirmation of payment for everything else. I fail to understand this. Never again Sixt. I'm done. If you are looking at renting a car with Sixt in Portugal, take a dozen videos and photos of the car at the time of pick-up so you can justify exactly what condition it is in. Maybe get a video and audio with the staff. You just never know what they'll try to make you pay for later. Disappointed. I also see in the other reviews that many other customers have complained about EXACTLY THIS PROBLEM. Why are you cheating us Sixt? I've rented from other branches in different countries in Europe BUT never had such experiences. Maybe the Sixt Management needs to look into the working of their branches in Portugal. Clearly something is going wrong there.

Excellent experience with the car rental, from beginning to end. Tiago Carvalho at the pick-up counter in Porto was exceptional in his helpfulness and professionalism. The employees who handed off the car and accepted the return of the car were also great. The rental terms were reasonable. The flexibility in updating the rental and the lack of one-way charge were a huge differentiator for Sixt from its competitors.

Due to slightly over-the-top Covid-19 restrictions, we had a 30 minute wait before being allowed into the branch. But once we were seen, the staff were extremely helpful, the car was great and their 'minor scratch' policy very reassuring. I would certainly recommend Sixt.

I rented a Renault Captur that was almost new and really enjoyed driving it. Picked up in Porto downtown and dropped at the Porto airport. Would have given it 5 stars if the staff who handed me the car would not have been so arogant and showing such a superior attitude. The guy needed some customer services trainings. :)
