Just a big organised fraud! I have no words to caracterise my experience with Goldcar. Unfortunately I am obliged to rate it one star, but this agency does not even deserve one. My conjoint and I had booked a car fully prepaid through the platform Carjet. Once we arrived at the agency, the agent, Filipa Marlene Duarte, tried to sell us an insurance for the pretext that my card was a debit card, thought it's clearly mentioned in their T&C that the caution for the car can be paid by a Visa or MasterCard debit card when a hold is not possible. When the agent acknowledged that she had to accept that we pay the caution, she then tried to scare us detailing the possible damages and the associated costs in case of damage when not subscribing an insurance. She insisted loudly, showing us some pictures on her phone of damaged rented cars. As this did not persuade us to go for the insurance, she eventually took the pretext that my card was not displaying my firstname fully, just the initial. While my card is recognised as valid by other rental companies and it is not written in Goldcar T&C that the firstname of the card holder should be displayed on the card, the agent told us that the only way to get the car was to pay for the insurance she had tried hard to sell us from the beginning. My card was therefore not good enough to be used for the payment of the caution of the car, but good enough for the payment of the insurance. We finally had to accept those totally unjustified conditions, as we had already lost two hours of our time with her and as she was not going to deliver us the car we had fully paid. Just to give an idea of how they operate, they offer you a car for a cheap price through booking platforms and once you arrive they force you to pay an insurance, which will multiply the cost by 3 at least in the end. The car we got was not even clean, specially the windshield which was dirty. Cherry on the cake, we had a problem with a tyre, which was not caused by us and, when we called for assistance - as we had unwilling paid for a full coverage -, no one was able to assist us!!! This is a total joke. Liers, frauders and incompetent people!!! On top of this, their customer service is not even better. We filled in a complaint, which they did not even take the time to read and answer properly. We received an email, which was totally out of the subject. And, surprisingly, on the phone, we were told by our interlocutor that the agent was not even entitled to accept my card for the payment of the insurance and that we should not have received the car in any case. Total nonesense and contradiction from Goldcar!!! We called them twice on the phone and were given the same answer. Just worth being put on your blacklist if you don't want to be abused... Oh... And I forgot to mention that when you drop the car, there's no check-out in your presence, everything will be done once you are away (which gives them the right to charge you if they consider that you caused a damage without you being able to express yourself in case of a dispute). Besides, when we returned the car, we received no information on how they would keep us informed after their unilateral chek-out (we had to ask!!!) and would return the caution for the fuel (which I could pay with my not good enough card, by the way). I had to call the agency three times to finally receive a check-out document 24 hours later!!!!

Pure scam. They will try to squeeze out everything they can from you. Avoid them at all costs.

The staff at the airport office cheated me. I had paid the insurance SUPER RELAX COVER and they tried to persuade me, that in this insurance I don't have covered tyres + wheels and windows and to cover this I need to pay 15,95eur more. I asked them 3 times, if they are sure. And they sweared, that it's not covered by SUPER RELAX COVER. I really hate such a behavior. And in any of the documentation I got wasn't written what exactly this insurance covers. Shame on you guys! How you can live with such a bad conscience?

They charge you 40€ more if you need to leave the car before 7am and insist you need a full coverage for 50€ extra. They hand you the keys and tell you to find the car yourself, somewhere in the parking lot. Car was in a bad state: scratches and bad bumps. Never ever again. Use the local services!

Terrible experience, long wait, incredibly pushy about getting extra insurance, didn't have the car we had booked and said we had no choice but to take a much larger car. Really bad service. NEVER again with Goldcar
