The staff is polite, the fleet of cars of good quality. However, a fuel deposit and a further € 136 are charged, the operation of the ViaVerde system is additionally paid € 18. No reply to e-mails for which a deposit of 100 € was charged. I sent 6 or 7 e-mails asking for clarification, but apart from automatic replies, no one was kind to write back. I strongly advise against.

Story is we were looking for the best car rental to go with for our trip in Portugal for a week. We came across zestcarrental.com which was at the top list of google search which seemed to have good reviews? They assigned us to centauro rentals as the cheapest i.e. £55 for 7 days. After googling about Centauro, for whatever reason some people say it was good. This turned out not to be the case at all. So I am writing this review just a day after collecting the car to warn others because it is a huge scam. There were also other people on that day whom were surprised and frustrated about what extra charges they been told to pay when collecting their rental. If you decide to book the car via zestcarrental.com, please don’t take their full insurance policy as this also does not seem to fully cover a lot as they claim so you will be wasting £18. When you arrive in Portugal to collect your car. Centauro will also tell you that “zestcarrental full insurance” does not cover for this and that. Example, if you get into an accident and no matter who’s fault it is, you will still get charged. Plus if you have a breakdown, you will be liable for it. So seems like I have been conned by both parties. To that end, Centauro will tell you to pay for: A) £126 for safe cover option - not covered for internal damages and misfuelling B) £100 for road toll charges - Portugal has a lot of tolls and have to pay each way. Centauro will deduct this from your 100 and will charge you more if your toll crossing is more than £100 C) £90 for fuel cover - if you don’t return the car with full tank, they will take the full £90 off you regardless if tank is 3/4 full. D) £11 for the tracking device installed in the rentals So in reality I actually paid around £400 for a week for the smallest car they have. In the U.K, with that can get you a nice Mercedes for a week! Anyway this seem to have angered a lot of people including myself on the day. Not been told about these charges and not making things clear on their site right from the beginning. Why not be honest upfront about your charges Centauro before getting people to rent your cars? Please people this is a warning to you all. You can take this as an advice or you will find yourself not having a good start to your holiday!

I have sent four message and I did not get any reply from this company. THEY ARE CHEATER, UNTRUSTABLE. DO NOT RENT ANY CAR FROM THIS SWINDLER COMPANY. I have rented a car and cancelled at the same day, but I am still waiting refund. I sent e-mails for three times and I never receive response. This firm is untrustable. DON'T RENT A CAR.

Worst car rental ever. They requested to block 1250€ in credit card otherwise I would have to pay 250 euros to get the car. It was 11pm and I only had 1200€ available in my credit card. So, next day in the morning I called my bank to extend the credit limit, then I called the rent car to go and pick the car. Centauro staff told if you are here before 11am you can get the car. Then I took a taxi and I was there at 10.44 am. The girl on counter took my details and told me 'I am sorry yoy will have to do a new reservation because your previous reservation shows canceled. For the new reservation you have to pay 250€'. Easy way to make money out of the customers!
