Located in Sochi, between the railway and the highway leading to the former Olympic village, the Cathedral of the Image of Christ the Savior Not Made by Hands is obliged, among other things, to date July 4, 2007. It was then, in distant Guatemala, that Sochi was declared the capital of the Winter Olympics.
On the eve of the Olympics, the upcoming Formula 1 races and the upcoming World Cup matches, the idea came to build this temple. That is why the current temple of the resort is sometimes called "Olympic" (after all, it was erected at the very opening of the Winter Olympic Games). His name is also "Spassky" ". It is located in a large spiritual and educational complex" Shelter of St. John the Baptist ", near the Imeretinskaya lowland. The builders of the temple very successfully entered it into the surrounding landscape. They built it in record time, in 2 years and 2 months - from 2012 to 2014 On Christmas 2014, the President of the Russian Federation himself prayed here. On February 2, the temple was consecrated in honor of the Image of Christ the Savior Not Made by Hands. On February 6, 2014, Patriarch Kirill blessed the athletes of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova here before performing at the Olympics. construction was developed by the Sochi architect - F.I. Afuksenidi, the former Deputy Chief Architect of the city of Sochi and the President of the Sochi organization of the Union of Architects of Russia, while developing the project The project took as a model the cathedral in St. Petersburg - in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Merciful". The neo-Byzantine architectural style was chosen. This is one of the neo-styles that developed in the art of Western European countries in the 1840s, in Russia it was called Russian-Byzantine ( interpretation of the forms of Byzantine and Old Russian architecture). This style originated in the Russian Empire in the first half of the 19th century. From where he drew his ideas and visions, the author of this memorable and pretty temple. And here is another reason why the temple was erected in this style. During construction work, to prepare Sochi for the Olympics, in 2010, the ruins of an ancient Byzantine temple of the 9th century were found. The stone taken from the ruins was laid at the base of the temple on August 29, 2012. Built in the Byzantine style, the temple has a centric domed composition with protruding half-domes of the apses in the plan of the cross. And the domes over the main room and the bell tower are made in the form of a smooth spherical shape. The drums surround the narrow windows with aro The outside walls are painted in light beige and decorated with arches, columns and pilasters. The inside of the temple will impress no less than the outside. The craftsmen, and here worked 25 artists-students of the Ilya Glazunov Academy of Painting, was almost 300 kg of paints were spent to decorate the walls, vaults, columns and arches. The church was painted over four months. The painting was made in the Art Nouveau or Realism style, reminiscent of the paintings of Viktor Vasnetsov. Here, biblical characters and angels are represented on the frescoes. Images on gold leaf. - also impressive. There is also a bell - weighing 2 tons. It sounded for the first time on February 5, 2014. When it sounds, no one can see the bell ringer ...? The fact is that modern technologies have not spared this temple either. It is equipped with an electronic bell ringing. And there is also an elevator and original illumination. Inside the temple there is a conference hall and a stage (for 350 people) and a refectory room with a capacity for 300 people. The altar of the temple contains icons of the Spa sa Not Made by Hands (17th century) is a gift to the temple from the President of the Russian Federation, as well as the image of the Holy Trinity, which was presented by Patriarch Kirill during his visit here. Both faces are taken out to parishioners on holidays. There is also a cross with parts of the relics of 40 saints and the icon of Matryona of Moscow with a reliquary. The church holds daily divine services and operates a Sunday school. For the residents of Sochi, it also has cultural significance, due to the regular social events. Around the church there are green spaces, a platform with benches and a fountain. Definitely, a visit to this This iconic place deserves attention. The beauty of architectural delights and interior decoration does not leave indifferent either us tourists or local Orthodox parishioners. And next to it is the beauty and grandeur of the Olympic facilities, the noise of the Black Sea and our respect for this beautiful temple ...
Because in all churches a magpie costs a certain amount of money, and there how much you donate, God bless this priest health, whose first place is not profit, not financial well-being, but the spiritual well-being of the parishioners. I am a pensioner with a meager pension and I cannot pay big money for a magpie. We have one magpie in Murmansk, for one person it costs 300 rubles, and here I paid 400 rubles for four, that is, 100 rubles per person, but this priest must bow low at his feet that he does not tear three skins from people. I would have paid 1200 rubles for four people for forty, no less, with my pension of 9500 rubles. Father Kirill, where are you !? Make it so that in all churches it is like here !!!
This incredibly beautiful temple was built on the site of the excavation of an older Christian temple. Perhaps this is one of the reasons for the awe that arises in the temple. Or maybe the fact that the rector of the temple has been serving for almost 50 years. The temple has very beautiful murals created by the artists of the Glazunov Academy. The services are stately and crisp.
Do not deny yourself the joy of partaking of spiritual life in such a beautiful place.
Today I visited this beautiful Temple, the first time was 5 years ago. The relics of the saint lay in the Temple, everyone and I wrote notes on the fulfillment of desires, everything came true for me. Today I specially wanted by the grace of a saint, but the relics were transported, it's a pity. It's hard to get there if you take a 50 ,. 125c,. The bus to get to the railway station to go through the zebra crossing to see the green grid, next to the tratuarchik you reach a small glass building, you need to go into the grid and go through the underground passage and to the end along the path and to the right to the Temple. This is economy. Who can't afford a taxi.
Excellent. Suddenly. Unusual Byzantine architecture and many southern plants. Heaven on earth
