I'm not very comfortable in the city. When I arrive, our grandmother is paralyzed here, we need to watch her. The temple in the city is the best place for me, and my home, of course. Unfortunately, now I cannot go to church often. And pulls to tears ...

Until the end of the 16th century, the Nikolskaya Church was wooden and was part of the architectural ensemble of the city Kremlin. In 1686, a massive fire broke out and the wooden church burned down. The new church building was moved beyond the Kotlyanka River. In 1745 this church was consecrated in the name of the Archangel Michael, and in 1753 the left side-altar of the warm church was consecrated in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The bell tower of the church had 9 bells, the largest of which weighed 1196 kg. The stone Nikolsky temple was built in 1903-1905. in neoclassical style. It is located in the place where it is today. Nikolskaya Church, like many other churches in Russia, went through hard times. After the October Revolution, it was closed, the bell tower was destroyed and the domes dropped. The cemetery, which was located near the church, was razed to the ground. During the years of religious atheism, the building of the St. Nicholas Church housed a workshop of the Kotelnichskaya knitwear factory. From the vibration of sewing machines, plaster and stucco molding fell away, and the church vaults also darkened. As a result, St. Nicholas Church became unsuitable for services and was closed. The shrine was in need of a scrupulous restoration ... And Orthodox Christians in the city of Kotelnich continued to attend church services. From 1948 to 1995 they huddled in a small wooden house given over to the building of a church, where it was always crowded and cramped. Only in 1992, at the numerous requests of believers, the building of St. Nicholas Church in the city of Kotelnich was again transferred to the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church. Gradually, the temple was restored and restored. And already in 1995 the first service took place here. The iconostasis of St. Nicholas Church was consecrated in 2002. Until now, St. Nicholas Church does not have a bell tower, but recently donations have been collected for its construction.
