La Chambre bleue

Fantastic place, the owner is so nice and I would absolutely come back here if I ever ended up back in Tunisia!

We had booked the hotel through expedia (where a rating is apparently not possible) during a stay in Tunis for almost a week, initially another room, but the owner rebooked us to the larger "loft" on the ground floor for a longer stay recommended, which turned out to be correct. Although we had to book the breakfast separately and do without daily cleaning, the booking price itself was cheaper, so that the bottom line was practically the same. The hotel is located in the middle of the medina and can NOT be reached by car, a walk of approx. 7-8 minutes is necessary from the Place du Gouvernement, this path is well described on the website and Sondos, the owner, has it too transmitted to us again in detail. These are converted stables or storage rooms in the former merchant's house. The lovingly carried out renovation was some time ago, and due to the high humidity it is starting to crumble in some places - I still gave 5 points, as this small shortcoming was more than made up for by the unbelievable friendliness of the owner. There is no air conditioning, but that was clear from the start, an electric fan was made available to us. The (extra booked) breakfast was rich and typical of the country, although the sweetness (fruit, jams, honey) predominated. As already mentioned above, Sondos was extremely helpful, provided us with a lot of helpful information and was always available, on the day of departure she even drove us to the airport. Conclusion: if you want to be in the middle of the medina and don't insist on a perfect interior, you are in very, very good hands here!

Superb room, sumptuous breakfast with a moment of sharing with our host. If I come back to Tunis, I will come back to this place.
