Hongshulin

紅樹林uff08HongShuLin, literally means colony of red shrubs in Chinese, while there’s a special name for the shrub-水筆仔uff08ShiuBiZaiuff09, denoting the ready-to-go seedling which is in the form like a penuff09got its name for the red mangroves that cover the sothern bank of Tamsui River uff08淡水河uff09near river’s estuary, the river empties its flow to the northern tip of Taiwan Strait uff08台灣海峽uff09.nnThe mangroves cover an area that stretches from Hongshulin metro station uff08紅樹林站uff09to Tamsui metro stationuff08淡水站uff09, there are also other small patches of mangroves along the river, but not as splendorous as this one, it is now a natural reserve, and serves as a sanctuary for birds, too, a lot of birdwatchers come here to watch them in the migrating seasons, there are long, elevated wooden path for pedestrians and bicycles to troll, a good place to spend the morning, or the afternoon till evening in fine weather.nnOn the 9th of March, a friend of mine sent message in the morning, to invite me to be with her in Tamsui for lunch, I agreed, and took the MRT from my home (transiting at Zhongshan metro station) , it took me about one hour for the trip to Tamsui metro station, upon arrival, I received a call from her, I said I was about to arrive at Tamsui station, she said no,no,no, she should meet me at Zhongyi metro stationuff08忠義站uff09, and took me by her car to visit her new home somewhere around there, then drove to Tamsui. Apparently I missed something in her message. I had to get back to Zhongyi station which is 4 stations away. That happened sometimes regarding my mis-reading or mis-interpreting the information from others. I was lucky that day, the delay was only about 20 minutes. I should be more careful next time.nnWe then had a hearty meal at Fullon Hotel Tamsui Fishermen's Wharf uff08福容大飯店- 淡水漁人碼頭uff09, and I took Danhai light rail (淡海輕軌uff09by myself to Hongshulin station, then to reconnect my original route back home. As Hongshulin station is the converging point for Danhai light rail and Tamsui–Xinyi lineuff08淡水信義線, the Read Lineuff09, and because of the red Mangroves sanctuary, the wooden path, and Guandu Bridge (關渡大橋uff09near by, this area may become more populated, and more commercialized in future.nn來這兒試乘捷運綠山線uff0c淡水輕軌。人好多。
