Nice place for rest.
This palace is a business card of Nemyriv and one of the must-see places in Vinnytsia region. It was built in the XVII century for the Crown Hetman Joseph Potocki. In 1787, the then city owner Vincent Potocki laid out a park around the palace. In the nineteenth century. Countess Maria Shcherbatova received ownership of the palace, and during the 1893-1917 it was rebuilt.
Countess Scherbatova's palace was built in the style of classicism and today is part of the sanatorium "Vanguard". Admission is free, so anyone who wants to admire the beauty of classicism can come here.
Today, the appearance of the palace has deteriorated and is being restored.
Nevertheless, it remains the main attraction of Nemirov, which should not be overlooked.
We were here, unfortunately, in bad weather, just unlucky in October 😉. But even for that short time when we were there, we got positive emotions. The building is well maintained, the park is striking in its beauty and scale. Cozy, there is where to walk and merge with nature. I recommend and would advise to leave more time for a walk here 🙂
Nemyriv was passed down from generation to generation by Polish magnates for hundreds of years. Some of them sold the town, some gave it to relatives or women, and some walked or played cards.
The palace in the photos was built by Potocki's great-granddaughter Maria Shcherbatova in 1988 on the site of an old family estate.
According to legend, the fortune teller told Maria Shcherbatova that her life was directly connected with the construction of the palace. Like, "while it is being built - you live, as you build - your death will come." Probably, this was the reason why the Nemyriv Palace was never completed. The main works were completed in 1917, but the interior and exterior had to be completed.
Now there is a sanatorium "Vanguard".
There is another legend about the park: Potocki allegedly allowed his serfs to marry only if they planted at least a few trees in the park. Thus, the peasants in love, who sought to marry as soon as possible, planted a park of "trees of love."
Today we want to remind you about the palace of Countess Scherbatova, which is located in Nemyriv.
The palace was founded in 1885 by Princess Maria Scherbatova and designed by the Czech architect Jiri Stibal (1859-1939) and was reduced to the 1917 revolution. The princess traveled a lot and somehow noticed in her travels the palace, a copy of which she wanted to build in Nemyriv. G. Griner, E. Kramarzh, A. Zima, and I. Fomin were responsible for the construction of a two-story palace in the neoclassical style during different periods of construction.
A park was formed around the palace. It was founded by Vincent Potocki in 1787.
In May 1921, by the decree of Lenin himself, the first sanatorium in Ukraine for recreation of the inhabitants of the Podolsk province was established on the basis of the estate of Princess Shcherbatova.
Currently, the sanatorium "Avangard" is located on the territory of the princess's estate, and in the palace there is a medical-diagnostic department and an art gallery.
