The city was founded by the Lithuanian prince Lubart in the middle of the 14th century, who built a castle over Sluč. In it, during the Khmelnytsky region, the surrounding nobility was able to escape from the Cossacks. However, the Cossacks destroyed the newly built Dominican monastery, which was later rebuilt. The Dominican monastery was not the only Catholic monastery of Lubar. In 1666 the Jesuits also settled in the city. After the banning of their order, the monastery became the property of the Basilians, who were expelled by the tsarist government, handing over the monastery to the Orthodox. Well and those, in turn, were "asked" by communists, having placed in cells an agrarian technical school, and in a church club. Future agronomists still gnaw the granite of science in the monastery cells.
