Lots of diverse art and a well lit space. Although the jewellery exhibition didn't appeal to me, the pieces were very beautiful. Well worth a visit whilst in Kiev

Art for most tastes and well worth a visit. I am no expert but my favourites where early 1800 to very early 1900's depictions of local life with vibrant light and shade. Religious paintings are not my thing, but they have a wide selection in the first number of rooms. I was more interested in checking out the wood work on these and seeing evidence of previous wood borers and how these pieces survived so long. It is great that they are now preserved. Upstairs there are Modern pieces, but while I appreciate the skill I much prefer the works downstairs.

The exposition of the National Art Museum of Ukraine includes masterpieces of Ukrainian paintings and sculpture, dating back to the times of Kievan Rus (the federation of East Slavic tribes from the 9th to 13th centuries). The museum currently has about 40,000 exhibits and has one of the richest collections of ancient iconostases in Ukraine.
