In 1807, when Lutsk Castle ceased to be a border castle, the house of Bishop Kirill (Terletsky) was built on the site of the current book museum. However, during the fire of 1845 it was badly damaged, was rebuilt and transferred to the county military office. In the period between the First and Second World Wars, it housed a museum of local lore. And the book museum opened relatively recently, in 2005.

There are ancient Old Slavonic books and a printing press.
