Important historical place.
A wonderful place, our story. Of course, nothing has changed since then. Ukraine, as it was overwhelmed by strife over the choice of the path to the east or west, continues. Visit sent to the set-up of Khmelnitsky, the Church of Paul and Peter, enter the mountain to the Khmelnitsky monument, there is a wonderful view.
authentic place! very credible!
I recommend everyone who gets in the way to see it. Because hundreds of years ago, thousands of homeland children died for this castle.
The Ottoman Army under the command of Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha besieged Çehrin on 21 July 1678. While the castle was the center of the Kazakh Hatman, which was subject to the Ottoman Empire, it was occupied by the Russians and Poles.
The Russian General Romodanovski came to the aid of the fortress, which was defended by about 150 cannons and a crowded force, and set up his camp across the water of Tasma. The siege of Çehrin, which is swamp on three sides and can only be approached from one side, was continued with difficulty, and bloody wars were also fought with the Russian and Barabaş Cossacks who came to help.
In the end, the castle was captured on 21 August 1678, the 33rd day of the siege, with two sewers opened under the fortress walls and a general attack that followed immediately.
Because it was very difficult to keep, the castle was completely destroyed and the Russian General Romodanovski, who saw the outcome of the war, had to retreat with the forces next to him.
Due to the seasonal conditions and the location of the castle, more than 20 thousand Mehmetçik were martyred both during the siege and conquest and during the return of the army.
Despite this, Çehrin remained under Turkish rule for only eight years. Then it was captured by the Russians again. The Russians also lost over 30 thousand soldiers in this war.
On this occasion, I commemorate my Ancestors and Şüheda with mercy.
Beautiful landscapes. Clean, good place with an interesting story.
